A violation notice was issued to the owners of Marygolds Family Event Center in Lanham on Nov. 30 following an assault inside the club last week, Prince George's County Police said.

Two men reported being cut and stabbed while at the event center at 8827 Annapolis Road early in the morning on Nov. 22. The men drove themselves to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, where police made contact with the victims and learned that an unknown suspect allegedly cut and stabbed them, according to police.

While investigating the assault, police learned Marygolds does not have a permit to hold dance-related events, Cpl. Larry Johnson said Saturday. The owners are now on notice that that future violations could bring criminal charges, which may result in shutting down the club, Johnson said.

Club owners could not be immediately reached for comment Saturday.

An investigation into the assault is ongoing and detectives are working to identify the suspect in the case.

Anyone with information about the assault is asked to call the Prince George's County Police Department's District II Investigative Section at 301-390-2160. Calls can also be made anonymously by calling Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-8477.
