Benjamin Parran, 90, of Chesapeake, Va., died Oct. 10, 2012.

He graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and was a part of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in World War II. He was a second lieutenant. He worked as an executive for many years at General Electric before retiring. Though he lived in Virginia, his heart was in Calvert County.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Parran; mother, Angela (Vandoren) Parran; daughter, Angela; and brother, Thomas.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Elizabeth (Barron) Parran; sons, Benjamin M. and Edward B. Parran; daughter, Katherine Moriarty; brothers, Theodore Parran and Richard B. Parran; grandchildren, Colin Moriarty, Elizabeth Hankin and Anne Moriarty; four great-grandchildren; cousin, Cassandra Parran-Brisko of St. Leonard and her children, Shannon Brisko-Campbell and her husband, David, Crofton Brisko and his wife, Kim, Parran Brisko and his wife, Holly, all of St. Leonard; and numerous cousins.

Family received friends for a funeral service Oct. 23 at Christ Church in Port Republic with the Rev. John Howan officiating.
