Benjamen Andrew Hillard, 48, of California, Md., died Oct. 21, 2012, at his residence.

He was born Sept. 16, 1964, in Alexandria, Va., to Ronald F. Hillard of California, Md., and Elaine (Morris) Hillard of White Plains.

He graduated from McDonough High School in 1982 and attended the University of Maryland. He was a member of the La Plata United Methodist Church and a past member of the Waldorf Jaycees. He was a talented artist and graphic designer. He worked at Auto Zone in California, Md., as a salesman.

He is survived by his parents; stepmother, Joye Hillard of California, Md.; brother, James C. Hillard of Clinton; sister, Mary E. Hillard-Ewald of Gaithersburg; stepbrothers, Jeff Morgan and his wife, Dee, of Lusby and Jay Morgan and his wife, Ann Marie, of Great Mills; stepsister, Jana Clark and her husband, Richard, of Orlando, Fla.; aunt and uncle, Mark and Dale Hillard of San Anselmo, Calif.; and nephew, George Ewald of Gaithersburg.

A memorial service was held Oct. 27 at La Plata United Methodist Church in La Plata.

Arrangements were provided by Brinsfield Funeral Home in Leonardtown.
