Marion Lezian Conner, 76, La Plata

Marion Lezian “Jake” Conner, 76, of La Plata died Nov. 26, 2012, at Washington Hospital Center, Washington, D.C.

Born Oct. 19, 1936, in Lexington, Va., he was the son of the late Oscar George Conner and the late Mary Magnolia Fix Conner.

Mr. Conner was a landfill superintendent for 29 years with the Charles County Landfill. He attended Browsburg High School and enjoyed farming. He moved to Charles County in 1963, where he resided until his death. He retired as superintendent of the Charles County Landfill in 1998. He loved his family and friends, and country music, and enjoyed traveling.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Francis “Buck” Conner and Kenny Cecil Conner.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mona Claytor Conner; children, Katheryne L. and her husband Jim West, Sherman O. Conner and his fiancee Sandy Meyer, Michael T. and his wife Susan Conner and M. David Conner; brothers, Frank “Sam” and his wife Thelma Conner of Sandy, Utah, and Roy Conner of Richmond, Va.; sisters, Winifred “Winnie” and her husband Bill Donald, Phyllis “Cook” and her husband Charles Dudley, Shirley Frasier and Emily and her husband Jeff Baska; grandchildren, Tai Conner, Casey Conner, Stacey Conner, Abbey Tereba, Carlie Conner, Kyle West, Jacob West and Nick Conner; mother-in-law, Bonnie Claytor; numerous nieces and nephews; and close family friends, Sonny and Shirley Taylor .

Visitation was held Dec. 4 at Raymond Funeral Service, La Plata, where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Dec. 5. The Rev. Chester Willett will officiate.
