The Greater Olney Civic Association is accepting nominations for the 2011 Greater Olney Civic Awards.

For more than 30 years, the GOCA Awards program has honored individuals, and organizations who have made a noteworthy effort as a volunteer or who have gone beyond the requirements of their jobs to enhance the quality of life in the community.

Those recognized make contributions through various ways, including working with youth or senior citizens, performing volunteer work, improving schools and educational facilities and providing resources for community endeavors.

“We rely on the citizens to be our eyes and ears, and to inform them about people or organizations doing good things in the community,” said awards program co-chairwoman Helene Rosenheim.

The award categories are Citizen of the Year, Contribution to the Community, GOCA Worker of the Year and the Ron Berger Olney Heritage Award.

The GOCA Awards ceremony will be held at Longwood Recreation Center on March 3, 2013 at 2 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

Nomination forms and more information about the GOCA Awards program are available at goca.org.
