Prince Georgeís police are investigating a non-fatal shooting in Chapel Oaks Tuesday that left a 16-year-old hospitalized over a cell phone.

Around 3:30 p.m., police officers responded to the 1200 block of Nye Street, part of a residential community in Capitol Heights, for the report of a shooting, according to county police

When officers arrived, they found a 16-year-old boy suffering from a gunshot wound to his forearm, police said.

An investigation later showed that an armed suspect approached the victim on foot and demanded he hand over his cell phone, but the 16-year-old refused and was shot in the arm, said police.

Police said they are now seeking the suspect who ran away with the victimís cell phone following the incident.

The 16-year-old was taken to an area hospital in stable condition and was released Wednesday.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the county department at 301-772-4911, or Crime Solvers at 866-411-TIPS to remain anonymous.
