Central Prince?George’s Chick-Fil-A locations to host charity jazz sessions -- Gazette.Net

Chick-Fil-A locations in Capitol Heights and Landover will host in-store jazz concerts this month to raise money and awareness for domestic violence charities.

Fort Washington resident and jazz pianist Marcus Young will perform at Chick-Fil-A locations at Steeplechase in Capitol Heights and the Boulevard at Capital Centre in Landover and will donate 10 percent of proceeds from CD sales at the restaurants to the Family Crisis Center, a Brentwood-based shelter for victims of domestic violence.

Daryl Smith Jr., regional marketing director for Chick-Fil-A, said the franchise owner of the two locations plans to donate a portion of sales during the performances as well, but has not yet worked out the details.

“We’ve seen and heard so much about [domestic violence], and a lot of our employees come from those kinds of backgrounds and homes,” Smith said. “So we want to fight the issue.”

Young will perform at the Steeplechase Chick-Fil-A, located at 9121 Alaking Court, from 5 to 7 p.m. on Dec. 11 and 18. He will appear at the Landover location, at 1040 Shoppers Way, from 5 to 7 p.m. on Dec. 12 and 19.
