Middletown will celebrate its annual “Christmas in the Valley” on Friday.

A tree-lighting ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. across from the Main Cup restaurant, with Burgess John Miller serving as emcee.

Winners of the decorating contest will also be announced, while the Middletown High School chorus will lead the audience in carols and Santa Claus will make an appearance.

At 7:30 p.m., Zion Lutheran Church will host an hour of Christmas music, featuring the high school chorus and other groups, followed by punch and cookies in the social hall.

Santa will visit with children in Santa’s Alley behind the town hall starting at 7:30 p.m., with hot chocolate also being served.

Christmas in the Valley collectible ornaments will also be on sale.

Anyone who brings a new, unwrapped toy to the town hall between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. will receive a stocking that can be taken to local businesses to receive treats.

Main Street will be closed from 6-8 p.m. to allow pedestrians to move more easily around the downtown area.
