Clayborne Zimmerman of Walkersville took second place in Virginia Tech’s Dairy Challenge.

The competition was held Nov. 9-10, at North American Clemson University in Newberry, S.C.

Clemson University hosted the event, which drew 60 students from 11 colleges throughout the southeast region of the country.

The intercollegiate dairy challenge facilitates education, communication and an exchange of ideas among students, agribusiness, dairy producers and universities.

Zimmerman is a junior at Virginia Tech, also known as Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, in Blacksburg, Va.

He is enrolled in the university’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
