The Maryland International Day School in Fort Washington is participating in an online video contest to win Spanish language books for their new library.

The students created a video that focuses on the school’s need for more Spanish books and the video is competing with videos from 18 other schools from around the country.

“Our students are very proud of their video and excited about this opportunity to obtain much needed Spanish books for our new library,” said Esther Donawa, the head of school.

First place winners will receive $5,000 toward Spanish language materials, second place will receive $3,000 and third place will receive $2,000.

As of Nov. 29, MIDS was leading the contest with 8,159 votes, 34.6 percent of all votes cast. Voting ended Dec. 2.

The contest is sponsored by the Spanish language television network VME and Santillana Publishers.
