Albert Edward Lemke, 89, of Mechanicsville died Dec. 3, 2012, at his residence.
Born Sept. 16, 1923, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Benjamin Rudolph Lemke and Victoria M. Herman.
He was a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed boating, crabbing, bicycling and yard saling. Mr. Lemke served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and he received the Good Conduct Medal while serving his country.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Elizabeth Higgs Lemke; brothers, Benjamin Lemke and Roland Lemke; and sisters, Victoria Mary Serrin and Ruby Libby.
Mr. Lemke is survived by his daughters, Connie Gilcrist of Seabrook and Judy Helton (Bob) of Flintstone; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Barbara Brooks.
Family received friends Dec. 6 at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home in Charlotte Hall. Services will be offered today, Friday, Dec. 7 at noon with the Rev. James Chance officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Waldorf.
