George Roland Bannister Jr., 46, Clements

George Roland “G” Bannister Jr., 46, of Clements died Nov. 2121, 2012, at Hospice of St. Mary’s Hospice House in Callaway.

Born Feb. 4, 1966, in Leonardtown, he was the son of George Bannister Sr.and Agnes Nelson-Bannister.

Mr. Bannister attended St. Mary’s County public schools and graduated from Chopticon High School in 1986. He was an outgoing gentleman with a big and courageous heart. He had an awesome personality and a big smile.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elijah and Emma Bannister and George and Edith Nelson; and siblings, Jerome and Sharon Bannister.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 17 years, Rena Somerville- Bannister; sisters, Patricia Bannister and Monika Bannister -Savoy; father and mother in-law, Lawrence and Ella Diggs-Somerville; brothers in-law, John, Lawrence Jr., Kerry and Marvin Somerville, Alfred Thomas, Timothy Savoy and Wilbert Beverly Jr.; sisters-in-law, Linda Somerville, Janice Jones, Lisa Thomas and Wanda Smith; 10 nephews; nine nieces; and godchildren, Aliyah Stevens, Rashad Dent and Corey Barnes.

Visitation was Nov. 30 at Briscoe-Tonic Funeral Home, Mechanicsville, and Dec. 1 before a service at the Gospel Tabernacle of Prayer Assembly of Christ, Clements.

Arrangements were handled by Briscoe-Tonic Funeral Home.
