Shirley M. “Wood” Warring, 82, of Prince Frederick died Dec. 1, 2012, at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C.

She was born in Haverhill, Mass., to the late Raymond and Lillian (Brown) Wood.

She graduated from Haverhill High School in 1948. For 20 years, she was a U.S. Navy wife married to Leo Warring, traveling to Hawaii, where both of their children were born, England, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Florida and California, and settling in Maryland. In 1968, she started working in the office of personnel at the Department of Agriculture, retiring in 1995 after 27 years of service. She was a choir member at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Solomons. She was a member of the American Legion Post 274. Her hobbies were playing bridge and being a social butterfly. She had a special place in her heart for animals.

She was preceded in death by her son, Paul Warring; and brothers, Harold Wood and Donald Wood.

She is survived by her daughter, Lani Ingram of Brandywine; grandchildren, Christine Fouad and Sean Gibbons; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Prince Frederick.
