Charles County enacted the Small Local Business Enterprise Program, which is intended to support the growth and vitality of Charles County's small businesses by increasing their success when participating in county government contracts and other procurements.

Small Charles County businesses that have services or commodities needed by Charles County Government are invited to attend a free SLBE seminar and business networking gathering 10 a.m. to noon Dec.18 at the county government building at 200 Baltimore St. in La Plata in the county commissioners’ meeting room. Come out for networking and refreshments at 10 a.m., followed by the SLBE seminar at 10:30 a.m.

The SLBE Program rolled out earlier this fall, and registration of eligible businesses is underway. The Department of Fiscal and Administrative Services' Purchasing Division is coordinating and managing the program, and provides the technical advisors to facilitate maximum participation by Charles County small businesses in county procurement. A directory of qualified and registered small local businesses will be made available to all county procurement staff, according to a county news release.

Reservations are required. To RSVP to attend the seminar, email Lucinia Mundy at MundyL@CharlesCounty.org or call 301-885-1334.
