The Humane Society of Calvert County (HSCC), a no-kill animal welfare organization and a United Way of Calvert County agency, would like to thank everyone who participated in or sponsored our 10th annual Pet Day 5K. This was held in Solomons Island on Saturday, Sept. 15. It was a perfect day for the 425-plus runners, walkers and their pets.
With participants, both the two-legged and four-legged kind in attendance, HSCC raised more than $16,000, which will directly benefit the animals in our care. We would also like to thank all of our dedicated volunteers who allowed this event to happen. The Pet Day 5K would not have been as successful without the support of our friends in the community. A special thank you goes out to Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church and OLSS Catholic School for their 10th year of graciously allowing us to use their parking lots and facilities.
HSCC congratulates the overall winner, Trent Herzog of Lusby, who completed the course with a time of 17:18. It was also a pleasure to have the teams from Calvert High School, The Calverton School and St. Maryís Ryken High School participate in the event.
We would like to thank our sponsors and donors who made this event possible. HSCC encourages you to support the following businesses that support our mission:
