The Montgomery County Council is officially on recess until mid-January.
The council held its final regular meeting of 2012 on Tuesday, led by newly elected Council President Nancy Navarro (D-Dist. 4) of Silver Spring.
It will not return to Rockville until Jan. 11.
Generally, the council president meets each week with members of the press to discuss county issues.
Navarro, who was elected Dec. 4 to lead the council for the next 12 months, will not host her first meeting with the media until the council returns in 2013.
In the interim, members of the council will be in Annapolis on Wednesday to participate in a Transportation Summit, organized by Councilmen George L. Leventhal (D-At large) of Takoma Park and Roger Berliner (D-Dist. 1) of Bethesda, as well as Del. Brian Feldman (D-Dist. 15) of Potomac.
The summit will address Marylandís transportation concerns, specifically state transportation funding, and will involve chambers of commerce, boards of trade, labor, elected officials and community organizations from the Baltimore-Washington region.
County Executive Isiah Leggett (D) is also expected to attend.
