Hubert Larry “Bushes” Gray , 66, of Hollywood died Dec. 9, 2012, in Callaway, surrounded by his family.

Born June 11, 1946, he was the son of late Luke Manning and Bertha Brown Gray.

He was the husband of Patsy Louise Gray, whom he married on June 28, 1969, in La Plata. He is survived by his children, Wayne Gray and Tammy Lozano, both of Hollywood; five grandchildren, Amanda Bassford, Michael Bassford Jr., Falon Lozano, Austin Gray and Dylan Gray; a great-grandson that is expected in February 2013; and his brothers, Ben and J. David Gray, both of Hollywood.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles, Allen, George and John B. Gray, all of Hollywood.

He graduated from Leonardtown High School in 1965 and joined the U.S. Army, serving in Germany for two years. He worked as a pipe-fitter and installer for the Architect of the the Capitol House Office Building in Washington, D.C.

He loved sports basketball, baseball, football, playing softball and the fun times afterward. He was a Washington Redskins fan. He loved crabbing and watching World Wrestling Federation matches.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Dec. 13, from 5 to 8 p.m., with prayers to be recited at 7 p.m., at Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home in Leonardtown. A funeral service will be held Friday, Dec. 14, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Ray Schmidt officiating. Interment will follow at Charles Memorial Gardens in Leonardtown. Pallbearers will be Richard Gray, Michael Gray, Wayne Russell, J.W. Russell, Michael Plumer and Michael Plumer Jr.
