Bowie area residents are invited to come to work on their identity Saturday.

Four free workshops on the dangers of identity theft and how to avoid it will be offered at the South Bowie Library at 15301 Hall Road.

Carolyn Richardson, an identity theft protection and group benefit specialist with the Harvard Risk Management Corp., will lead the four hour-long seminars that will begin at 10 a.m. and run back to back, she said. The seminar will be repeated every hour between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

“We're going to be talking about what identity theft is and how it happens,” said Richardson, a Bowie resident. “Identity theft is everywhere but somehow a lot of people draw the conclusion that it isn't happening here.”

While the event is free, registration is required. Those interested can register at www.meetme.so/HRMCAPPTS.
