Prince George’s County realtors work to raise thousands for the area’s needy -- Gazette.Net

Prince George’s County Realtors are hoping to craft a happy holiday season for area residents.

For the fourth year in a row, the group that represents real estate agents and advocates on housing issues has partnered with the county government in an effort to raise food for the area’s less fortunate.

“It’s the public sector and private sector partnering to give back,” said Michael Graziano, director of government affairs with the county’s realtor organization.

The group was scheduled to have its annual holiday members meeting Wednesday at La Fontaine Bleu in New Carrolton. Tickets to the event cost $30 with the proceeds going to the county’s Public Safety Assistance Program.

Last year’s drive had 200 attendees and raised about $6,500 and organizers are hoping turnout will let them beat that number this year, said Joan Ostenso, executive vice president for the county’s association of realtors.

Donations can still be given to the drive through the realtor’s website Checks addressed to PSAP/Food can be sent to 9200 Basil Court, Suite 400 Largo, Md. 20774. Donations will be accepted until Dec. 20, Graziano said.
