At Tuesday evening’s La Plata Town Council meeting, Ward 3 Councilwoman Paretta “Paddy” Mudd resigned her position, effective Jan. 1.
Mudd, who has served on the town council since 2005, will be moving to a new home in La Plata outside of her ward, thus requiring her to step down.
While on the council, Mudd helped to oversee the creation of the town’s beautification grant program, a summer job program for high school students at the town hall, and helped establish a crime-watch program along the Kent Avenue corridor in town.
“Paddy’s knowledge, professionalism and gracious manner will be greatly missed,” La Plata Mayor Roy Hale said in a news release. “Her desire to work in the best interest of La Plata citizens will be the hallmark of her tenure in office.”
The town will hold a reception for Mudd during the Jan. 22 town council meeting.
