Power expected to be restored at noon Friday
More than 200 Baltimore Gas & Electric Co. customers in Chesapeake Beach, including Beach Elementary School, lost power at midnight Friday after a tree fell on a power line.
BGE spokeswoman Rachael Lighty said a tree fell on a power line across from the elementary school, leaving about 220 customers without power. Early Friday morning, the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office sent out a Nixle alert that the elementary school was closed due to the power outage.
At 10 a.m. Friday, Lighty said crews were on site working to fix the problem and expected power to every customer to be restored by noon.
