One person died after a car carrying five people crashed late Friday night in Adelphi, police and fire/EMS officials said.

Cpl. Clinton Copeland, a spokesman for the Prince George’s County Police Department, said at about 11:30 p.m., a vehicle was involved in a single vehicle crash on the 9300 block of Riggs Road in Adelphi.

County Fire/EMS Department spokesman Mark Brady said five occupants were sent to area hospitals, one of whom had life-threatening injuries. Copeland confirmed Saturday that at least one person had died from their injuries.

Copeland said police are still investigating the crash. Police spokesman Cpl. Edward Martin said Sunday that he had no further details on the incident.
