Agnes Virginia Montez, 86, of Accokeek died Nov. 9, 2012, at Calvert County Nursing Center.

She was born March 7, 1926, in Melwood to the late Edward Henry Lusby and Maude Parrine Lusby.

She retired from Andrews Air Force Base Child Development Center in June 1988 after 23 years of dedicated service. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and listening to country and gospel music. She was known for playing her Jew’s harp and harmonica. Her yodeling was sure to bring smiles. She was dedicated to her church, St. John’s Episcopal Church of Fort Washington, which she attended for many years. “Miss Aggie” and “Sissy,” as she was known by many, touched many lives over the years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 60 years, Kenneth R. Montez; brothers, William Lusby, Edward Lusby, James Lusby and Gardiner Lusby; and sisters, Blanche Bowman, Mabel Kean, Frances King, Georgia Sacra, Ruth Walter and Anna May Lusby.

She is survived by her children, Ide Hill of Mechanicsville and her husband, George, Deborah Beckner of Bryans Road and her husband, Dave, Ken Montez and Dana Montez, both of Mechanicsville and Wanda Jameson and her husband, Craig Jameson; grandchildren, Craig Jameson Jr. and Melissa Willis and her fiancé, Tony Pietropaoli; and great-granddaughter, Isabelle Pietropaoli.

She donated her body to the State Anatomy Board-Maryland in Baltimore to aid in research for Alzheimer’s.
