A sports utility vehicle crashed into a dentist office at McCain Drive in Frederick on Christmas Eve, plowing through the front of the building and causing significant damage, city police said.

When officers arrived at the scene at 11:30 p.m. on Monday they found the vehicle — a 2007 Kia SUV — deep inside the office of Dr. Valerie Kee at 4 S. McCain Drive, which had been closed that day, said Lt. Clark Pennington, spokesman for the Frederick Police Department.

Neither the driver nor the passengers of the vehicle were injured during the accident, Pennington said.

Police determined that the driver of the Kia stepped on the gas believing that the vehicle was in reverse, Pennington said. However, the SUV was in drive and propelled directly into the office, he said.

There have been no arrests in the crash, and Pennington said he did not have any additional information on Wednesday.
