Green Gift Fair continues through Dec. 30

Community Forklift, a nonprofit building material store that sells salvaged and reusable building materials, will hold its fourth annual Green Gift Fair through Dec. 30 at its store in Edmonston.

The gift fair includes $1 stocking stuffers and products such as jewelry, T-shirts, candles, walking sticks and other objects made by residents from mostly recycled and reclaimed materials.

Potomac artist Joy Ashcraft created Christmas stockings and fleece-lined scarves from sports coats, neckties and button-down shirts for this year’s gift fair.

"We love the challenge of transforming outdated, damaged and unwanted items into unique, fun and functional handbags and accessories," Ashcraft said in a statement. "By using items that would have found their way to the landfill, we are doing our part to reduce, reuse and recycle."

The store is located at 4671 Tanglewood Drive in Edmonston, and the gift fair will be held during regular business hours. The store’s hours are noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday; and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
