Earlier this month, residents, staff and prospective residents of Riderwood retirement community in Silver Spring delivered 700 donated toys to Toys for Tots to help disadvantaged children in the Washington, D.C. area.

Seven large boxes filled with stuffed animals, art materials, dolls, games, matchbox cars and coloring books were delivered by volunteers sporting Santa hats. They made the donation at Mazza Gallerie in Chevy Chase, one of the drop-off locations coordinated by local radio station Mix 107.3 and the U.S. Marine Corps.
