An Upper Marlboro native was given an academic honor at Lawrence Academy in Groton, Mass. Cornelius Griffith, a junior at the academy, was named to the academic honor roll for the fall trimester at the school.

Lawrence Academy is a roughly 400-student preparatory school for grades 9 through 12 located about 30 miles northeast of Boston.

Griffith serves as a captain of the school’s wrestling team in addition to his academic studies.

He is the son of state Del. Melony Griffith (D-Dist. 25) of Upper Marlboro.
