The northbound lanes of Route 355 will be shut down for several more hours, authorities said, after a morning collision that involved six cars.

The accident shut down traffic on Route 355 in both directions near Templeton Place, authorities said. As of 1 p.m., two southbound lanes are open and the northbound lanes are shut down.

Initial reports were that multiple collisions occurred shortly after 10:30 a.m. when a car possibly went in the wrong direction.

As many as six cars were involved.
