Jeffery Lane Nestor, 49, of Lexington Park has been released on $7,500 bond following his arrest last week on charging papers alleging he got home from a bar, demanded money from three other occupants of the house and pointed a firearm at them.

Nestor was charged with committing a first-degree assault on Christina Lee Weeks, Louis Edward Russell and Charity Hope Wood during the Dec. 21 incident at the residence off Route 5 west of Park Hall, court papers state, and Weeks and Russell told police that they heard a gunshot as they ran away through the woods.

Nestor told police that he was upset because no one had taken care of a fire in the home’s fireplace during his absence and that he grabbed a muzzle-loader .50-caliber rifle during the argument, but that he did not point the weapon at anyone before he also left the residence, according to a statement of probable cause filed by St. Mary’s sheriff’s deputy William Bankhead.
