A Waldorf man has been charged with burglary after officers found stolen video games and jewelry in his backpack at 3:16 p.m. Dec. 13, the Charles County Sheriff's Office reported.

Marlon Obryan Williams, 20, was in front of a Waldorf video game store when officers stopped him because they thought he was acting suspiciously, police said.

A computer check showed that Williams had four open warrants. The officers searched Williams and found a video game console, several electronic games and multiple pieces of jewelry in his backpack.

The officers immediately recognized the items as property that was reported stolen the day before from a house in the 10000 block of Ashford Circle in Waldorf.

Investigators later learned that Williams might have been keeping stolen goods inside a nearby vacant house. Officers went to the house and found other items that had been reported stolen, including a gun.

Williams has been charged with burglary and theft and served the outstanding warrants. He pleaded guilty last year to a September 2010 burglary, according to online court records.

Cpl. F. Tona is investigating.
