Popeye’s in Rockville’s Town Center celebrated its first anniversary in December. Anis Akram, the restaurant’s operator, said the location marked the occasion with special prices on chicken, free hot chocolate, music and dance performances.

The Comcast Foundation has awarded a $1,805 grant to Interfaith Works in Rockville. Interfaith Works is a nonprofit organization that helps shelter, clothe and feed people in need and provides supportive services to help them achieve self-sufficiency.

James L. Thompson, an attorney with Miller, Miller and Canby in Rockville, has been recognized by the publication Best Lawyers. Thompson was named 2013 Lawyer of the Year for the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area in the practice area of eminent domain and condemnation law.
