Betty Jane Linkins, 89, of Waldorf died Dec. 20, 2012, at Genesis Waldorf Center.
Born Oct. 19, 1923, in Seat Pleasant, she was the daughter of the late William Robert Kidd and the late Georgie Windsor Kidd.
She worked as a waitress at local restaurants. She was of the Episcopal faith. In her younger days, she enjoyed cooking, playing cards and going out on the boat. She loved animals, especially cats.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Wilbur Linkins; two sons, Peter Lynn Kidwell and Johnathon Ashley Kidwell (who died at birth); two brothers; and nine sisters.
She is survived by four sons, Christopher Carl Lusby of Virginia, Gerald Lee Lusby of Brandywine, Charles Leroy Kidwell of Hughesville and Timothy Lee Kidwell of Florida; a daughter, Judith Elaine Lusby Thompson of Florida; 10 grandchildren, some of whom reside in St. Mary’s County; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The family received friends and a funeral service was held Dec. 26 at Raymond Funeral Chapel in La Plata. The Rev. Harry Harper officiated. Interment will take place Jan. 2 at 11 a.m. at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham.
