On the first day of 2013, Tyler Eddy, 6, got what he has wanted since he was 3, a little sister.
Rylee Lynn Eddy was born at 10:04 a.m. Tuesday. She weighed 8 pounds, 1 ounce, and was 19 inches long.
She was delivered by Dr. Barry Aron.
Rylee was the first baby born in 2013 at Civista Medical Center in La Plata.
Rylee’s mother, Samantha Eddy of Mechanicsville, said Rylee was due Jan. 4, but the New Year’s baby had other plans, which Samantha Eddy said was OK by her.
Rylee’s father, John Eddy Jr., said he was ready to have a baby girl and that his daughter was already spoiled.
He said Samantha would say that Rylee already has him wrapped around her finger, and he agreed.
“She had me at the first smile,” he said.
Samantha Eddy said Tyler has always wanted a sister.
She said Tyler has made plans to help his parents with feeding and changing Rylee.
While posing for photographs, Samantha and John Eddy were presented with a bag of gifts courtesy of the Civista Health Auxiliary.
Samantha said her wishes for her daughter are that she is happy and healthy.
“That’s all I’ve ever wanted for her and Tyler,” she said.
Holding his daughter, John Eddy Jr. was asked if having Rylee helped to make 2013 a good year.
“The best year,” he said.
