Northern senior Brant Leadbeter was recently named Ravens Champions Athlete of the Week, presented by Toyota, for the period ending Nov. 11.

Leadbeter, who helped the Northern boys soccer team compile a 12-1-1 regular season record and a berth in the Class 3A South Region championship game, was honored by the Ravens prior to their Nov. 11 game against the Oakland Raiders.

Leadbeter, who was recently accepted into the United States Naval Academy Prep School, received a Ravens jersey, media recognition and $500 toward Northern’s athletic program. The Ravens are promoting academic, athletic and community excellence through the program, which recognizes the athletic achievements of Baltimore area youth and promotes local high school athletics.

Eight times during the NFL regular season, corresponding with Ravens home games, two student-athletes (a male and a female athlete) are awarded the honor. Leadbeter attended the game with his father, Mike, and was shown on the video screen with the female athlete of the week, Rebecca Miller, a junior at Catholic High School in Baltimore County.
