The Windy Hill girls and the Plum Point boys basketball teams each emerged victorious in the Erica Weems Middle School Christmas Tournament held Dec. 15 at Calvert Middle School.

Windy Hill, which was co-county champion last year, was 3-0 in the tournament and took home first place after Mya Smith scored 10 points to key a 29-22 win over Calvert Middle in the championship game. Zairera Duckett scored a game-high 12 points for Calvert.

Southern 24, Mill Creek 12 (SOU Tatyanna Jones 12; MC Emma Carlson 6)

Windy Hill 24, Northern 12 (WH Smith 16; NOR Amanda Claggett 8)

Calvert 13, Southern 11 (OT) (CAL Charmaine Willet 4; SOU Taylor Wade 5)

Windy Hill 24, Plum Point 9 (WH Smith 18; Annika Kelsey 4)

The all-tournament team was made up of Smith, Carlson, Claggett, Jones, Duckett and Thaliah Gross of Plum Point. Smith was also named tournament Most Valuable Player.

The Plum Point boys won its bracket after a 35-16 finals win over Calvert Middle. Terron Morris scored 15 points for the Gators and Davaughn Reid added seven. Jack Lanham scored six points for the Tigers on a pair of three-pointers.

Plum Point 40, Windy Hill 29 (PP Daquon Watts 10; WH Jordan Bell 8)

Calvert 23, Southern 22 (OT) (CAL Lanham 7; SOU Buck 8)

The all-tournament team was comprised of Reid, Lanham, Bell, Buck, Hooper and Young. Reid was also named tournament Most Valuable Player.
