Tennis coach wanted

CBAC registration

Chesapeake Bay Aquatic Club will have its swim team session two registration and assessment from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Jan. 8 at the Michael P. O’Brien Athletics and Recreation Center’s aquatics center at St. Mary’s College of Maryland in St. Mary’s City.

The club will also hold registrations for lessons and pre-team from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. Jan. 16 and 10 to 11 a.m. Jan. 19 at the same location. Lessons and pre-team classes will be held Jan. 21 to Feb. 13.

Officials wanted

The Southern Maryland branch of the Washington Area Lacrosse Officials Association is seeking new officials to officiate boys youth games this spring.

Mandatory training sessions to become a certified US Lacrosse Level 1 boys lacrosse official will be conducted in January and February.

Officials must be at least 16 and must submit a written recommendation from their current high school coach if attending high school.

All new officials must be US Lacrosse members or join US Lacrosse in order to take the certification class. Game fees for youth games range from $45 to $60 per game. Prior lacrosse playing experience is highly desirable.

Tide baseball tryouts

The Chesapeake Tide, an 8-U and 9-U travel baseball team, will hold tryouts through the winter for players in the Southern Maryland area. Players cannot turn 9 or 10 years of age by May 1, 2013, depending on the team.

Soccer training

Gretton Goalkeeping will hold weekly outdoor and indoor soccer training sessions for all ages and skill levels at select gyms in the county through the week of Feb. 25. Junior coaches program

St. Mary’s County Recreation and Parks are recruiting individuals to take part in its junior coaches program, which will begin this winter sports season.

The program is designed to provide additional sports-related opportunities for high school students and to set a standard for effective coaching. A maximum of six coaches will be selected for the first year of the program. First-year coaches are not eligible to participate. Applications are available at www.stmarysmd.com/recreate. Spartans need players

The Charles County Spartans, a 12-U travel baseball tournament team, will hold tryouts through the winter for players in the Southern Maryland area. Players cannot turn 13 years old by May 1, 2013. For more information, call Tad Waters at 301-247-7441.

Coaches needed

The Mechanicsville Youth Lacrosse Club is looking for coaches for their boys youth lacrosse teams for the spring season.

The players are 5 to 14. Practice starts early March and the season ends late May. Practices are held at Chaptico Park and home games are at Fifth District Park behind Lettie Dent Elementary School.

Adult baseball players wanted

Alumni football

Gridiron Alumni is planning several full contact alumni football games this spring.Players are needed to sign up and the first 40 players on each team get to play. The team that gets 30 people registered first gets home field advantage.

Teams from Leonard Hall Home School Eagles, Patuxent, Chopticon, St. Mary’s Ryken as well as other area teams are forming now.

Gridiron Alumni is targeting more of the biggest rivalries in the nation for its Gridiron Alumni Rivalry Series.
