Port Tobacco Players will hold a fundraiser for United Way of Charles County during its production of “Brighton Beach Memoirs,” written by Neil Simon, running Jan. 25 through Feb. 10 at the theater at 508 Charles St. in La Plata. For each ticket sold, the group will donate $1 to United Way.

The comedy, which is part of Simon’s autobiographical trilogy, provides a portrait of the writer as a young teen in 1937 living with his family in a crowded, lower middle-class Brooklyn walk-up apartment. The production is produced by Liz Mildenstein, and is directed by Mel Gilpin Ball and assistant director Joselle Gilpin.

Tickets are $17 for adults and $14 for youth, seniors and military members. Performances are 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. Sundays.
