The following items were compiled from reports from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office. During the week of Dec. 31 through Jan. 6, deputies responded to 1,399 calls for service throughout the community.
Man charged with assault
At 2:06 a.m. Jan. 1, Cpl. T. Phelps responded to Captain Bigs for a reported fight. He saw a large group of people in the middle of the road and when he approached, a man ran into him, pushed him and started to punch him. Phelps told the man to stop and tried to restrain him. The man resisted and a taser gun was used to assist in his arrest, deputies said. James L. Horton, 32, of Lusby was charged with two counts of second-degree assault, resisting arrest, disturbing the peace and disorderly conduct.
Log splitter stolen
Deputy J. Migliaccio is investigating the theft of a Champion 22-ton log splitter, valued at $900, from the front yard of a Randle Avenue Home.
Someone stole a Garmin GPS from an unlocked vehicle on Tobacco Road between Jan. 3 and 4. Deputy J. Migliaccio is investigating.
Items stolen from vehicles
Between 10:30 p.m. Jan. 3 and 5:45 a.m. Jan. 4, someone entered two unlocked vehicles parked outside a home in the 12000 block of Steven Lane. The garage was also entered through an unlocked door and a vehicle parked inside had about $400 worth of cash and gift cards stolen. Deputy G. Gott is investigating.
Teen charged for possessing alcohol, drugs
Deputy T. Buckler saw a vehicle parked in the road on Maplewood Drive at 8 p.m. Jan. 4 and made contact with the driver. He saw her shove a bottle of rum under the passenger seat and also found suspected marijuana and a water bottle in the console that contained alcohol. Delia J. Kenny, 18, of Bowie was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol and was cited for possession of marijuana, having an open container in a vehicle and drinking alcohol under the age of 21.
