Sydney M. Creasy, 73, Martinsville, Va.

Sydney M. Creasy, 73, of Martinsville, Va., died Jan. 8, 2013.

Born June 6, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Ariel B. and the late Phyllis M. Creasy.

She and her family moved to Maryland in 1969 from Hawaii. She taught special education at Dr. Mudd Elementary School, Waldorf. After that she worked for the State of Maryland at Juvenile Services, La Plata, for more than 25 years.

She retired from the state government to move back to her home town of Martinsville. There she worked at Beavers Hills Day Care. She adored working with children.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Kenny Willis Jr.; daughter, Karen M. Willis; and nephew, Todd B. Creasy.

She is survived by her brother, Lynn B. Creasy of Martinsville; daughters, Tamela Miller and her husband Marion of Washington, N.C., and Katherine Willis Shughart and her husband Harry of Waldorf; grandson, Ashley Sawyer of Washington, N.C.; granddaughters, Martena and Jessica Chaney and Mackenzie Sydney Shugart, all of Waldorf; and great-grandchildren, Haley and Rein Sawyer of Washington, N.C.

She donated her body to science.
