Ruth Regina “Jeannie” Green, 70, of Broomes Island died Jan. 6, 2013, surrounded by her family, after struggling valiantly with COPD and other medical complications.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Raymond L. Green of Broomes Island; six children, Robert Joseph Dow (Kelley) of Atlanta, Sherry Lea Gold (Gary) of Dunkirk, Terry Allen “Joe” Dow (Susan) of Hampton, Va., Jerry Dean Dow of Winston Salem, N.C., Susan Lopez (Roy) of Lusby and Gina Jafari (Jody) of St. Leonard; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Elsie Mae Robinson (Vernon); four brothers, William “Sonny” Brady Jr. (Shirley), Thomas Walter Brady (Sandy), Milton Gary Brady and Robert Clark Brady (Wendy); and a host of loving nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Roland Brady Sr. and Ruth Virginia Brady; three sisters, Sara Eldridge, Lorena Mister and Jeannette Brady; and a brother, James Edward Brady.

She retired in 2008 after a successful career that included serving as the general manager of The Tide newspaper in St. Mary’s County and then the Prince Frederick Recorder newspaper, now The Calvert Recorder, in Calvert County.

She loved the Washington Redskins, Maryland blue crabs and cooking for her family.

A memorial service was held and prayers were said Jan. 9 at Rausch Funeral Home in Port Republic. Interment was private.
