A Suitland man found by police on Friday suffering from trauma to his body was strangled to death, Prince George’s County police say a medical examiner ruled Saturday.

Jamal Rami Martin, 34, of the 2400 block of Shady Side Avenue, was pronounced dead at a home in the 2200 block of Wyngate Road in Suitland, according to a county police department release. Police had responded to a call made around 6:45 a.m. reporting a fight.

Leon Antauwn Wynn, 43, of the 2200 block of Wyngate Road in Suitland, has been charged with second-degree murder and other charges, according to the release.

Wynn, who knew Martin through family, admitted his involvement in Martin’s death, the release said.

Metropolitan Police Department spotted Wynn’s car on Friday, matching it with a vehicle description provided by Prince George’s County police, and arrested him on unrelated charges, the release said. County detectives had identified Wynn as a person of interest in the case.

A woman who was in the car with Wynn is being “treated as a witness,” said Officer Paul Metcalf, a spokesman for the Metropolitan Police Department.

Wynn will be extradited from Washington, D.C., to Prince George’s County at a later date, the release said.
