Norma Jean Henderson, 85, La Plata
Norma Jean Henderson, 85, of La Plata died Jan. 11, 2013, at Civista Medical Center, La Plata.
Born on July 22, 1927, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Herbert Stanley Dern and the late Virginia Belle Gross Dern.
Mrs. Henderson was a bookkeeper for more than 40 years at Henderson Drywall in La Plata. She lived in the Washington, D.C., area all of her life, the last 40 years in Southern Maryland. She enjoyed bowling for 44 years and was the league secretary for 34 of them. She loved to go to bingo with friends and loved to travel and go on cruises. She enjoyed going to Dover to play the slot machines. Spending time with her family and friends and eating crabs were always special to her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Wayne Henderson; son, Ricky Bland; daughter, Norma Bell; and brother, Herbert Dern.
She is survived by her son, Jack, and his wife Sue Bland, of Pomfret; daughters, Donna and her husband Eddie Wilson, of La Plata, Barbara and her husband Steve Dillon, of Loudon, Tenn., Genny and her husband Charles Buckler, of Clements and Judy and her husband Paul LoBianco of Waldorf; sister, Peggy Posey of Indian Head; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Jan. 14 at Raymond Funeral Service, La Plata, where a service was Jan. 15. The Rev. Mark Roberson officiated. Burial took place at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf.
Pallbearers were Shawn LoBianco, Bob Wilson, Jack Bland, Michael Wilson, Tyler Wilson and Bryan Thomas Jr.
