The Charles County commissioners voted to hold the record open for 10 days on the controversial tier map, which will guide Charles County land use for the foreseeable future and was created by a developers group.

As we have said before, Port Tobacco River Conservancy is strongly opposed to this tier map, which would open virtually every acre in Charles County that is not already protected to large lot development on septics and wells. As is known, septics are a serious polluter, and the increased impervious surfaces that such development will bring will exacerbate the problem of stormwater runoff and further pollute our creeks and streams, including the Port Tobacco.

Please make your voice heard by sending comments opposing this tier map to Denise Ferguson at fergusodcharlescounty.org before Jan. 17.
