Richard D. Cassidy, 77, Rogersville, Tenn.

The Rev. Richard D. Cassidy, 77, of Rogersville, Tenn., formerly of Accokeek, died Jan. 7, 2013, at Wellmont Hawkins County Memorial Hospital.

He was a retired minister having served as pastor at many churches in the Rogersville area. He was a veteran of the Korean War who served in the U.S. Navy.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Cassidy; parents, James Arthur Jr. and Ruby Cannon Cassidy; and brothers, Sonny Cassidy and John Cassidy.

He is survived by his daughter, Donna Masters and her husband David of Greeneville, Tenn.; son, Kevin Cassidy and his wife Kim of Rogersville; grandchildren, Joshua Cassidy, Breanne Masters and Jessica Masters; sister, Marion K. Berry of Bowie; brother, William J. Cassidy and his wife Judy of Accokeek; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until time of service at 7 p.m. Jan. 11 at Broome Funeral Home, Rogersville. Blaine Jones and Todd Pierce will officiate. A private graveside service will be at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Arrangements are being handled by Broome Funeral Home.
