Mary Ellen Davis, 85, Tall Timbers
Mary Ellen “Duty” Davis, 85, of Tall Timbers died Jan. 6, 2013, in Mechanicsville.
Born Sept. 25, 1927, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Edna Mae McDonough and the late Paul Nasan Espina.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William C. “Billy” Davis; sons, James “Jimmy” Davis and Ronald “Ronnie” Davis; brothers, George “Buddy” and Thomas “Sonny Boy” Espina; sisters, Helen DeLeon, Blanche McGee, Thelma Smith, Nancy Sison and Betty Lou Espina; and son-in-law, Ray Breeden.
She is survived by her companion, Philip E. Hayden; children, William “Billy” Davis and his wife Becky, Michael Davis and his wife Marie, Karen Smith and her husband Joe, Robert “Bobby” Davis and his wife Billie, Darla Breeden and Lori Calloway and her husband Rhett; sisters, Rosa Bautista, Elizabeth “Betty” Jobe, Juanita “Nita” Taylor and her husband Joe; 38 grandchildren; 86 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives.
A life celebration will be held from 3-5 and 6-8 p.m., Jan. 22 at New Life Wesleyan Church, La Plata, where a service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 23. Burial will take place at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham.
