Mary Ellen “Duty” Davis, 85, of Tall Timbers died Jan. 6, 2013, in Mechanicsville.
Born Sept. 25, 1927, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Edna Mae (McDonough) and Paul Nasan Espina.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William C. “Billy” Davis; sons, James “Jimmy” Davis and Ronald “Ronnie” Davis; brothers, George “Buddy” and Thomas “Sonny Boy” Espina; and sisters, Helen DeLeon, Blanche McGee, Thelma Smith, Nancy Sison and Betty Lou Espina.
She is survived by her companion, Philip E. Hayden; children, William “Billy” Davis (Becky), Michael Davis (Marie), Karen Smith (Joe), Robert “Bobby” Davis (Billie), Darla Breeden (late Ray Breeden) and Lori Calloway (Rhett); sisters, Rosa Bautista, Elizabeth “Betty” Jobe and Juanita “Nita” Taylor (Joe); 38 grandchildren; 86 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and a large extended family.
Friends are invited to her life celebration on Tuesday, Jan. 22, from 3 to 5 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at New Life Wesleyan Church in La Plata, where services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 23, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham.
