Less than 24 hours after a 21-year-old was killed in Forestville on Monday morning, Prince George’s police have charged a man they believe to be killer.

Tairon Dominique Dingle, 22, of Capitol Heights was arrested in Washington, D.C., Monday and is awaiting extradition back to Prince George’s County, said Charnay Anderson, a Prince George’s police spokeswoman. Calls to the Metropolitan Police Department to determine why Dingle was arrested in the District were not immediately returned.

Dingle, of the 5500 block of Ashley Place, is charged with first-degree murder and related charges for allegedly killing Brandon Rashad Catlett, 21, of the 6400 block of Hil Man Drive in Forestville.

When police received a call for “a man down” around 3 a.m. Monday, officers found Catlett suffering from a gunshot wound in the 3300 block of Walters Lane in Forestville. He was transported to an area hospital, where he died, police said.

County police said detectives are still trying to determine a motive in the slaying.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the county’s homicide unit at 301-772-4925 or Crime Solvers at 866-411-TIPS to remain anonymous.

A defense attorney for Dingle was not listed with the courts by Tuesday, according to online county district court records.

Phone numbers for Dingle and Catlett’s family members could not be located.
