Fire officials are investigating a Tuesday morning arson fire to a car in Dunkirk.

At 2:40 a.m. Tuesday, about seven firefighters from the Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department responded to a cul-de-sac on Cedarwood Lane for a reported fire to a 2009 Acura TL, according to a Maryland State Fire Marshal’s press release.

Officials said the Acura was intentionally set on fire and abandoned in the cul-de-sac. The fire, which was discovered by a resident, originated in the passenger compartment of the car after an ignitable liquid was poured on the Acura and a piece of cloth leading to the vehicle and then intentionally set on fire, the press release states.

The fire was controlled in about five minutes and no injuries were reported. No arrests have been made at this time.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office Southern Region at 443-550-6831.
