Silver Spring jewelry store robbed -- Gazette.Net

Montgomery County detectives are searching for a man who they say robbed a Silver Spring jewelry store Monday.

The robbery took place at around 12:45 p.m. at The Gold Spot, in the Glenmont section of Silver Spring. Police said a man pulled on the front door of the store, attempting to get in.

The business has controlled access, so an employee let the man in after he was visible at the door, according to a statement released by Montgomery County Police.

After entering the store, police said, the man pulled down a mask to cover his face, brandished a handgun, and announced the robbery.

The man ordered the employee to the rear of the store, obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and gold jewelry, and fled, according to a statement from police.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about this crime or the man involved to contact the Robbery Section at 240-773-5100 or the non-emergency line at 301-279-8000.

Those wishing to remain anonymous can call the Crime Solvers tip line at 866-411-TIPS (8477). Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest and/or indictment for this crime.
