A Waldorf woman killed herself and critically wounded her husband in an apparent murder-suicide attempt Tuesday evening.

Officers found Linda Lindsey, 64, shot to death and her husband, 68, alive but suffering from bullet wounds inside their home in the 3100 block of Heartleaf Lane minutes after they received a call at 8:21 p.m. from Lindsey’s relative reporting the shooting, Charles County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Diane Richardson said.

The relative told police that she had called Lindsey to check up on her, only to have Lindsey tell her that she had shot her husband, Richardson said.

Police found a firearm by Lindsey’s side. Her husband was flown to a hospital and remains listed in critical condition, Richardson said.

The motive for the shooting is under investigation by Detective G. Higgs.
